Jane
Royston was born and raised in Yorkshire,
and has been a keen horse woman all her life.
She
has competed in Eventing, Show Jumping and
Dressage, and won the oldest Flat race in the
country – The Kiplingcotes Derby.
Jane
began working for Yorkshire Television in the
late 1960’s on a television drama series
called Tom Grattan’s War, helping the leading
lady with her horse riding.
She
then worked for four years as Horse Manager, on
the award winning drama series Follyfoot.
Her
own horse, Austrian Sky, was used in the series,
as well as appearing on the book front cover
reprint of Cobbler’s Dream.
Ray
Knight was born and raised in Dorset, and
became a massive fan of Follyfoot.

After
the series ended, he managed to purchase all the
videos of the entire series from Yorkshire
Television.
In
the the late 1970’s he met and interviewed
Gillian Blake, Steve Hodson, Arthur English and
Desmond Llewelyn, as well as visiting the film
location.
One
“out of the blue” telephone call to Jane
Royston, led to the new book, Follyfoot
Remembered being written.
Shown
below are some photographs of Ray’s visit to
Hollin Hall in 1979.
